Maintain a Chainsaw Training Course

NZQA Unit Standard 43- Maintain a Chainsaw       

This one-day course covers the maintenance and sharpening of a chainsaw in depth. This unit standard is part of some arboriculture and forestry qualifications and is a requirement for the Department of Conservation External Chainsaw Base Level Assessment. It can also be useful for those that would like to further improve their chainsaw sharpening and maintenance skills. 

 People credited with this unit standard are able to demonstrate knowledge of a chainsaw cutting unit; sharpen a chainsaw chain, and demonstrate knowledge of a chainsaw maintenance and faults.

Credits: 10 @ level 3

This unit standard 43 course is delivered on an as needed basis once adequate numbers of candidates have registered interest or arrangements can be made for smaller groups and individuals. Candidates are required to have their own chainsaw available to work on during the assessment and preferably hold chainsaw unit standard 6917 although this is not a prerequisite for the unit standard.
