Light Utility Vehicle Training Course

(Non NZQA unit standard course)

A one-day course covering all aspects of the safe operation of a Light Utility Vehicle based on best practice guidelines, basic maintenance, start /daily checks (based on operator’s manuals and practical driving skills)

The participants will receive a performance report and certificate of attendance.

NZQA Unit Standard Light Utility Vehicle Training Course 

This is a course covering the below unit standards. (Or the unit standards that are required by the trainee/s)

Day One

This is a half -day session which includes the theory unit standard 24556, covering the safe use of a Light Utility Vehicle, basic maintenance, daily checks and some practical driving skills.

Trainees must supply NZQA (NSN) number or ID (copy of driver’s license)

• Demonstrate knowledge of the safe operation of a light utility vehicle (LUV)
  NZQA Unit Standard: 24556
  Credits: 3 @ level 2

• Minimum of 4 and maximum of 6 attendees per course

Day Two

This is a practical course covering the below unit standards. (or the unit standards that are required by the trainee/s).

Prerequisites 

Candidates must have evidence of a minimum of 10 hours riding LUV bikes, in a workplace situation, over at least a three-week period, covering a range of tasks. 

This evidence should consist of a riding logbook, a workplace diary and an attestation from the candidate’s employer, or similar. This must be supplied prior to the trainee attending the course.

Trainees must supply NZQA (NSN) number or ID (copy of driver’s license)

• Drive a light utility vehicle (LUV) on flat terrain in the workplace under close supervision

  Credits: 4 @ level 2
• Drive a light utility vehicle (LUV) on rolling terrain under limited supervision
  NZQA Unit Standard: 24558
  Credits: 4 @ level 3
• Drive a light utility vehicle (LUV) with trailed equipment under limited supervision 
  NZQA Unit Standard: 24560
  Credits: 3 @ level 3
• Drive a light utility vehicle (LUV) with mounted equipment or a load under limited supervision
  NZQA Unit Standard: 24562
  Credits: 3 @ level 3

• Minimum of 4 and maximum of 6 attendees per course.
• This course can be run as a One Day Course if participants provide all evidence of practical competency prior to attending the course (see prerequisites)
